Information systems are the backbone of contemporary life in the work at all levels of small medium and large corporations. It is becoming increasingly difficult to manage businesses in traditional manner, without the help of computerized information systems in planning, monitoring and control in all activities of the different business environment. The department of MIS is founded to contribute directly to support national development plans by producing graduates with well developed skills to comprehend, plan, analyze, design, test and maintain modern management information systems in order to serve the business objectives and the national development. The strength of our graduates would be in their skills to combine scientific, industrial and administrative knowledge and technical expertise in information systems. This will fill up the shortage of the graduates who can deal both with the business and technical environments. This unique blending of business and technological management skills would enable our graduates to excel in many areas such as: e-commerce, marketing, operations management and production, international trade, human resources and financial management. The MIS undergraduate degree program is intended to provide students with a learning environment conducive to the needs of all students. This would assist students with the acquisition of theoretical and practical knowledge to help plan, analyze, design and develop information systems for running business organizations. The MIS courses are also designed to develop students’ skills to visualize information systems as a system or a group of manageable components, and the manner in which these components work together coherently to achieve the desired goals. MIS courses are also designed to teach applications of information systems in Business Administration and their impact on contemporary organizations. This in turn would help MIS graduates to achieve a balance between the technical and non-technical activities, achieve increased productivity and hence become market leaders.
